Just as the final footy teams are fighting for their premiership our Reserve 2024 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and our Alfresco 2026 Vermentino, are battling out in this years show circuit. Who doesn’t love a little friendly rivalry?
Our first contender is the deep ruby red, Reserve 2024 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon currently holding 4 trophies 3 golds. This drop, displays heady aromas
of violet, red and black forest fruits, layered with chocolate truffle and allspice. The palate is rich and concentrated, revealing generous flavours of dark cherry, mulberry and complimentary notes of clove, cedar and vanilla. Structural tannins and a vibrant acid line provide balance, depth and exceptional length, and poise. This one’s perfect with your Sunday roast. Delicious with a rosemary and garlic roasted lamb with baked root vegetables and mushroom gravy. Yum. Some of you were lucky enough to snap up the limited release during Father’s day – hang tight for the release next year.
Next up we have the quartz green Alfresco 2026 Vermentino, not far behind with 3 trophies and 2 golds. This Vermentino has aromas of lemon blossom, mandarin and sea spray. The palate is crisp and vibrant with flavours of fresh limes, yellow stone fruit, mineral, and fine textural accents. It is a delightful aperitif, and a wonderful accompaniment to antipasto, shellfish and prawns, or salt and pepper squid, perfect as the weather starts to warm up.
One red, one white, two completely different characters both just as impressive as the other. Who will take out the title?
