Sydney Royal Wine Show 2025 Trophy winner
Exciting news overnight, where the 2020 Berton Vineyard Reserve Botrytis Semillon took out the top award at the Sydney Royal Wine Show, receiving a gold medal and Trophy.
A celebration of diversity, craftsmanship, innovation, and excellence in Australia's wine industry, the prestigious awards ceremony was held at the Four Seasons Hotel Sydney, where The Hanaminno Perpetual Trophy for Best Sweet White was proudly accepted by Berton Vineyards National Sales Manager Steve Carrero.
Revered for its rigorous judging processes, esteemed panel of judges, and its role in showcasing winemaker skill that define Australian wines, Sydney Royal Wine Show brings together some of the most talented winemakers and judges from around the world, to validate winemaking expertise and recognise excellence.
Berton Vineyard Reserve Botrytis Semillon heralds from a single vineyard in Hanwood NSW, where cool, autumnal misty mornings, followed by warm, clear days produce optimal conditions for Botrytis cinerea to slowly evolve and create the decadent, trophy winning wine found in the bottle.
The process requires patience, nerves of steel and a little luck, but when the heavens align the result is a World class dessert wine, with complex notes of dried fig, honey, apricot nectar, and pastries, balanced by a clean, crisp acidity.
