This parcel of Durif has been chosen from selected vineyards overlooking Griffith in the Riverina, New South Wales, where it thrives in the warm, rich soils. One of the last parcels to be harvested, the rich ripe fruit concentrates the varietal flavours of violets and blackberries and enhances aromas of anise and cinnamon.

"Durif is a big, burley frame but with a soft smile when coerced. From Berton Vineyards Riverina site, this is all black fruit and dark chocolate. A smidge of rum'n'raisin but that cheeky smaile comes from soft purple flowers and pot purri like scents. A savoury drive bustles along, highlighted by licorice, biltong and brown spices. Long and mouthfilling, those delicate spices tick away with ease. Big, sapping tannins draw all moisture from the mouth. If you like 'em big, you will love the value this represents." 90/100, Q wine, August 2020
