2006 Foundstone Merlot
Foundstone is the foundation on which the Berton Vineyards portfolio rests. Sourced from vineyards in the sunny south east, these wines are consistently full of flavour and made so that they are ready to drink now.
This FOUNDSTONE Merlot displays violets and roasted characters on the nose with a rich mouth-feel that leads to a lovely blackberry, black olive and liquorice on the palate. Coffee notes underpin the berry flavours and keep them lingering on the palate.

VINTAGE Vintage started well with good rains in mid spring and cool weather right up into January and setting up for what was expected to be a great vintage. Temperate early season weather shifted into a very intense heat causing a delay in grape maturity. The later ripening saw reds picked in the cooler autumn weeks with wines displaying rich ripe flavours ranging from blackberry right up through to very ripe blueberry.

CELLARING This wine has been made to drink now but will cellar for 5 years.
